Fox's Den Lodge Portage Lakes

We have several portage lakes that are accessible by short walks. On these
lakes we have boats and motors available for our guests to use. These lakes are
a great way to spend a day away from anyone else and most have a nice area to
enjoy an afternoon shore lunch. To help preserve fish stocks on these smaller
lakes we ask our guests to practice catch and release - take what you need for
lunch and return the rest to fight another day. We will help you with maps of
the lake and show you some of the spots. So if you are interested in
experiencing some fly-in style remoteness that you can walk to, this may be for
you!
MURRAY AND McMURDY
These two lakes accessible by a short river run on the
south end of the lake. If a day of chasing Smallmouth Bass sounds good, this is
the place to be. Fish the many rocks with jigs or other Bass favorites and your
sure to pull up one of these scrappy fighters or tie into one of the many
Northern Pike.
LOCH LOMOND
This beautiful lake(aprox.400 acres) is home to
Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth and Perch. Lomond has both shallow and weedy
areas that produce many Pike in the early season. There are many deep drop offs
were you can cruise for big ones once the water warms. Located in the centre of
it all is a cedar covered island, where you can find walleye feeding in the
afternoon or try your hand at fishing the rock piles for Smallmouth. This Lake
is fed from Wabatongushi Lake and drains via the Lochalsh river, into Dog Lake.
KATRINE and MEATH
These lakes can be reached by a short eight minute walk. This 800
acre lake is home to Walleye, Northern Pike and Perch. Mostly shallow, with a
few deeper holes, Katrine can produce some great Pike fishing and is home to
Walleye and Perch From Katrine you can reach Meath with another short portage.
PINNY
After a fifteen minute run up the scenic Dog River and a short walk
through the woods, you'll find yourself at Pinny Lake. Fish the drop-offs for
Walleye and the emerging weeds for Pike. The Record Walleye to come out of this
lake was a 14lb whale!
STONEY PORTAGE
Connecting Dog Lake and Manitowik Lake you
will find a river that is home to native Brook Trout, Walleye and some
Smallmouth. Stoney Portage can be fished from shore in the early spring before
the Trout have moved to colder waters.
