Fox's Den Lodge Northern Pike

At Dog lake you'll find some of the best Ontario Northern Pike fishing in
the area and being one of the largest lakes in the region, also produced
some of the biggest trophy pike.
Dog Lakes main body of water 13,500 with over 225
miles of shoreline. It's a typical Canadian Shield lake with
weedy bays, shoals, islands and rocky points. It's the perfect habitat
for many feeder fish thus lots of food for Northern Pike to grow big and
in good numbers.
Northern Pike will average around 3 pounds in our area. Pike in the 4 to 7 pound
range are caught frequently. There are also big Northerns in Dog lake. These monster
pike get big because they are smart but Dog lake fisherman still catch and release
a few Northern Pike over 40 inches ever.
All of our walk-in lakes also have Northern Pike in them and we practice catch & release in these lakes.
Many of our guests catch pike with jigs while Walleye fishing but some
preferred lures are Rapalas(blue and orange)
Yellow-Five-Of-Diamonds, DareDevils, Smithwicks, weedless Johnson spoons, Little Cleos,
Spinner baits and large sucker minnows. When you find a hot Walleye spot, try
pulling out some Pike lures because the big ones may be feeding on the
Walleyes.
